917 ballots received from voters
43.65% return rate
All ballots must be voted and returned to any Elections Office by mail or in person no later than 5 PM on February 19 (7 PM at the Viera Office) to be eligible to be counted.
Mail ballots do not require witnesses like absentee ballots. They do, however, require that you write your full Indialantic residence address, including city, state and zip code, and sign your name in the appropriate spaces on the return envelope. All signatures will be verified against our registration records. Ballots with blank or improperly completed certificates will not be counted.
Who can vote: All registered voters in the Town of Indialantic (precinct 50).
Registration books close: January 22, 2002 at 5 PM
Ballot language:
To provide advanced life support (ALS) emergency medical service to a home within the Town within an average of three minutes, it is estimated that a Town homeowner will be required to pay additional $21.24 per year in property taxes (assumes single-family home appraised at $125,000 with $25,000 homestead exemption). Shall the Town increase property taxes to provide ALS emergency service by the Town as proposed?
YES (FOR APPROVAL)
NO (FOR REJECTION)
Mail ballot election: This election will be conducted as a mail ballot election. This means that ballots will be mailed to each registered voter in the Town of Indialantic. There will be no polling places open for this election. Ballots were mailed on January 30, 2002 (except for overseas voters, whose ballots were mailed on January 15). Because this election is being conducted by mail ballot, you do not need to request an absentee ballot. However, if you reside in the Town of Indialantic and you have moved and not notified the elections office, or if you will not be at your residence address (or will not have access to the mailing address that we have on file for you) after January 30, you must contact us to update your address information and/or to let us know where to mail your ballot.
Moving into the Town of Indialantic: If you move into the Town of Indialantic after the ballot mailing period (after February 9), you may vote in office at one of the Supervisor of Elections offices. Due to requirements of state law, no ballots other than replacement ballots may be mailed after February 9.
Voting in office: Voters with special needs or who are unsure where they will be during the mailing period may vote at one of the Supervisor of Elections offices during regular office hours from January 30 until 5 PM on February 19 (7 PM at the Viera office).
Military and overseas voters: If you are in the military or are temporarily residing outside of the country, and you have not notified our office of your military or overseas address, please contact us immediately. If you have notified us previously of your current address, you do not need to do so again. Overseas voters' ballots were mailed January 15 in order to give you sufficient time to vote and return the ballot.
