Cocoa Beach Special Election Information

Last updated 7/10/01

* * * NOTICE * * *

If you have trouble inserting your ballot into the secrecy envelope that was provided, use a letter opener, a knife or a pair of scissors to slit one side of the secrecy envelope. This will allow the ballot to fit in the envelope while maintaining the secrecy of your votes. Please DO NOT cut or tear the ballot -- this will require the ballot to be duplicated before it can be counted.

COCOA BEACH MAIL BALLOT STATISTICS

as of 7:00 PM on July 10, 2001:

8,907 ballots issued to voters
4,747 ballots received from voters
53.30% return rate

COCOA BEACH BALLOTS HAVE BEEN MAILED

As of today (June 20, 2001), all ballots for the Cocoa Beach Special Election have been mailed. If you do not receive your ballot within the next few days,
contact us so that we can attempt to determine the reason. Some of the possible reasons are: In order to receive a replacement ballot, you must sign an oath stating that you did not receive your mail ballot, or that it was lost or damaged. Replacement ballots may be taken home for a voter if that voter designates in writing a person to pick up his or her ballot.

All ballots must be voted and returned to any Elections Office by mail or in person no later than 5 PM on July 10 (7 PM at the Viera Office) to be eligible to be counted. TO MAKE THIS PERFECTLY CLEAR, MAIL YOUR BALLOT NOW -- IT MUST BE RECEIVED IN THE SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS OFFICE IN VIERA BY 7 PM ON TUESDAY JULY 10, OTHERWISE IT WILL NOT BE COUNTED.

Mail ballots do not require witnesses like absentee ballots. They do, however, require that you write your full Cocoa Beach residence address, including city, state and zip code, and sign your name in the appropriate spaces on the return envelope. All signatures will be verified against our registration records. Ballots with blank or improperly completed certificates will not be counted.
