Qualifying for city and town offices is handled by each city or town's clerk. For additional questions about qualifying for office in a particular municipality, please use the information below to contact the clerk for that city or town.
Items on this page regarding specific city or town qualifying information, such as qualifying fees and petition requirements, may change without the knowledge of the Supervisor of Elections Office. Potential candidates should verify this information with the clerk in the city or town in which they would qualify.
All cities and towns require candidates to be registered voters and to file a Financial Disclosure, Form 1.
Any listed petition requirements are IN ADDITION to any listed qualifying fees, unless noted. All petitions must be signed by registered voters within the specific municipality.
In addition to the qualifying fees listed, all municipalities charge a state assessment equal to 1% of the annual salary of the office being sought, except as noted below.
